MY PLATFORM
My focus of this campaign is on integrity and being fully open and honest with the communities of Region 3. When you vote for me, you are voting for someone who will do their absolute best as Regional Director to ensure that we move forward as a Nation.
I will promote recognition for BC Metis and their working relationships and parternships with First Nations and non-Indigenous organizations within Region 3.
Our Children
We need our children back with the Métis Nation here in BC. I will continue to push for jurisdiction of our children. I will focus on resourcing our families’ health and wellness so our children are kept where they belong, with their families.
Communication
With my frontline experience with the Metis community at a grassroots level, I will enhance communication between Metis communities in Region 3 and the Metis Nation of BC Board of Directors.
I will take the needs and concerns of all eight Region 3 communities to the Board and be able to speak to board members from citizen-level experience, providing them with frontline information from community leaders.
I will establish regular communication with these community leaders so that I can come back to them with communication from the Board, ensuring everyone remains consistently informed.
I will also focus on our Elders, youth, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ community members to ensure their needs are heard and met.
I know the urgency of the issues, and I know how to make things work on the ground.
Language and Culture
I will encourage the enhancement of our language and culture within all Region 3 communities. I will ensure we make the best possible use of our resources, and spread awareness of these resources to all communities. I will ensure I am available for phone calls from community members who are looking for resources so that I can direct them accordingly and assist them however needed. I will also assist in use of the MNBC website.
Environmentalism
We need to take care of Mother Earth and do everything we can to avoid the depletion of her already fragile resources. We, as a Nation, need to stand up against the destruction of the planet, regardless of the financial benefit.
I am already involved in a bi-weekly cleanup of a Kelowna creek that has been adopted by a group of our youth, who are taking care of this natural space. I believe initiatives like this can spread throughout our communities and that we can make a difference in the natural spaces around us.
